A Butter
Chicken
Odyssey
For nearly two years, I set out on a mission across
Edmonton with one goal in mind: to find the city’s best
butter chicken. From hidden neighborhood gems to
well-known restaurants, I visited 50 different spots,
tasting, reviewing, and documenting each dish along
the way. But the reviews became more than just about
the food. Each stop sparked memories, reflections,
and stories from my own life, turning every restaurant
into part of a bigger journey. What started as a
personal project has since taken on a life of its own –
inspiring a stage play, gaining media attention, and
now evolving into a book.
About me
Underneath it all....
I’m just a kid who grew up in Mill Woods with a love for food, wrestling, hip hop, Punjabi folk music, and horror movies. What started as something I did purely out of my love for food slowly turned into something I never could have imagined.
Along the way, it’s opened doors I never expected – hosting events, meeting people from all walks of life, teaching classes in junior high schools and universities, gaining media attention, publishing a book, and even seeing A Butter Chicken Odyssey adapted into a stage play.
Through it all, one thing has always stayed the same. I’ve never wanted to be bought or trade reviews for free meals or money. My goal has always been simple: be honest, and shine a light on the small businesses around Edmonton that deserve recognition. Sometimes that honesty makes people upset. Sometimes it creates friendships. But either way, it’s always been real.
